ALS signed “Ever your devoted Grannie, V.R.I.,” four pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 7, black-bordered Windsor Castle letterhead, April 2, 1900. Handwritten letter to "Drino," her grandson Prince Alexander of Battenburg, in part: "I have never written which I am so sorry for but GanGan had so much to do—I am pleased to hear the good account of you & that you will be able to take a good place at Wellington College—I am sure you will feel parting with parting with Mr. & Mrs Knowsley who have been so kind to you and leaving Park Hill where your happy years went & I am sure never will forget them. You will be pleased at May's having a 3rd son which delighted us all." In fine condition. A unique piece of royal family correspondence, remarking on Alexander's admission to Wellington College and announcing the birth of a great-grandson: Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, was born on March 31, 1900, to Mary of Teck and the future King George V.
