Desirable hand-addressed and free-franked mailing envelope, 5.75 x 3.5, postmarked January 16 (no year), addressed by Tyler to “William G. Goddard, Esq’r, Providence, Rhode Island,” and franked in the upper right corner, "J. Tyler." The reverse bears the original red wax seal. In fine condition.
The recipient is ostensibly William Giles Goddard (1794–1846) who served as the editor of the Rhode Island American and later as a professor of moral philosophy, and then rhetoric and American history, at Brown University.
