Description

"Most of the questions were hostile and based on a false premise as a result of inaccurate news accounts"

ALS signed “Sincerely, RR,” one page, 8.5 x 13.5, dated in another hand, December 12, 1967. Handwritten draft of a letter to Richard Tucker Witt, in part: "I can't tell you how grateful I am for your very helpful letter. You can never know how perfectly you had the situation assessed. It was a most rewarding week in the very way you had foreseen. Most of the questions were hostile and based on a false premise as a result of inaccurate news accounts. The result was that I had a continuing opportunity to puncture some balloons and shake a few pre-conceived ideas. Don't misunderstand, I have no illusions that converts were made but some Pavlovian bells perhaps have a tone less sure now. Again my heartfelt thanks for your kindness." In fine condition.
