Description

ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, July 9, 1899. Handwritten letter to John C. Bryant, in full: "I desire to thank you for the copy of Langdon W. Moore's autobiography which you kindly sent me. I was quite interested in Mr. Moore's recital of the Buffalo incidents, though my remembrance of the details of that affair does not entirely agree with his." In fine condition.

Langdon Moore was known as a safe cracker, bank robber, and counterfeiter who spent jail time in several northeastern states. In 1893 Moore published his autobiography, 'Langdon W. Moore. His Own Story of His Eventful Life.' In it, he briefly refers to Cleveland's involvement in a civil case in Buffalo.
