"Mrs. Lincoln's favorite"—a fantastic 1859 salt print portrait of "Hon. Abraham Lincoln"

Superb original oval 5.25 x 7.5 salt print portrait of the beardless Abraham Lincoln based on the photograph taken by Samuel M. Fassett in Chicago on October 4, 1859, affixed to its original 9.5 x 13.5 mount, imprinted below the image: "Hon. Abraham Lincoln." Displayed in a contemporary frame to an overall size of 12.75 x 16.75; annotated on the wooden backer board in pencil: "Bought of Harry E. Blanchard, Sandwich, N.H., Oct. 19, 1929, This portrait dates from 1859, Mrs. Lincoln's favorite, Negative by Fassett of Chicago." In very good to fine condition, with some scattered toning and dampstaining to the mount, heaviest along the bottom edge.
