Partly-printed vellum DS, signed “J. Tyler" as president and "J. C. Calhoun" as secretary of state, one page, 13 x 15, September 30, 1844. Scalloped-top ship's pass issued to the “Ship Factor, Shubael Hawes, master or commander…mounted with guns navigated with thirty one men." Signed at the conclusion by President John Tyler, and countersigned below by Secretary of State John C. Calhoun. The lower left retains the original embossed seal. In very good condition, with overall staining.
