Color satin-finish 9.5 x 7.5 photo of President Gerald Ford shaking hands with Jana Hruska, signed and inscribed on the original 14 x 11 mat in black ink, “To Jana Hruska, with thanks and appreciation for your five years of service and dedication. Very best wishes, Jerry Ford.” The reverse of the photo bears an official White House stamp dated December 16. 1976. In fine condition.
Jana Hruska was the daughter of Senator Roman L. Hruska, Republican of Nebraska, as well as the private secretary of John Ehrlichman, the White House Domestic Affairs Advisor who was a key figure in events leading to the Watergate break-in and the ensuing Watergate scandal. For his role, Ehrlichman was convicted of conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and perjury, and served a year and a half in prison. Hruska served as a defense witness in the Watergate trials.
