Description

Fairbanks remembers the horror icon: "He was always the very model of an English gentleman—even to his love of cricket"

Choice TLS with great cinema association, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, June 15, 1991. Letter to Peter Treger in London, in part: "I am very pleased to learn you are developing a documentary on Boris Karloff. He was always the very model of an English gentleman—even to his love of cricket. He was, also, as I remember, just about as nice as they come, with a soft gentle sense of humor—very different from his 'spooky' public image. I don't have any really interesting reminiscences except that in 1931, in a film, with Loretta Young, called 'I like your Nerve,' Mr. Karloff played my secretary—not at all a villainous part." In very fine condition.
