TLS, one page, 7 x 9, personal letterhead, February 22, 1969. Letter to Dean Alfred Jarrette of Saints Junior College, in part: "Thank you for sharing with me your feelings and those of your students and friends. Your generous words were deeply meaningful. The accomplishment of my Administration in the field of civil rights and education will always be a source of personal pride and satisfaction. My only wish is that we could have done more." He adds a handwritten postscript: "I would be glad to see you if you are ever this way and I should like to write the old man in Memphis if I had his name and address" In fine condition, with irregular light toning, affecting only appearance. Accompanied by a photocopy of Jarrette's letter to Johnson.
