Description

Handwritten schoolwork from 10-year-old Robert De Niro as an elementary school student at Public School 41 in Manhattan, New York City, penned in blue ink on both sides of an off-white 6 x 9 sheet of notebook paper, the top of which De Niro has signed, dated, and added class and school information: “P.S. 41 Man., Class 6-2, Robert De Niro, January 7, 1954.” On the front, De Niro writes down a list of 20 words and then writes a short paragraph at the conclusion, “Good food nourishes the body, and gives it strength. We all enjoyed the piano solo.” His teacher has graded the assignment a “99” at the top.

On the reverse side, De Niro answers five geography questions and then five American history questions, receiving scores of “40” and “60” from his teacher. In the history section, De Niro has written: “1. Frontier people / 2. Abe Lincoln / 3. Not much schooling / 4. Frontier / 5. Captain James Smith make the rich people word.” In fine condition.
