Early vintage fountain pen signature and inscription, "It's much Happiness that I'm wishing you, Lydia, John Wayne,” on a pink 6 x 4.5 album page, dated "Feb. 23, 1931" in another hand. A small portrait of the actor is affixed at the upper left. Mounted to a larger sheet and matted to an overall size of 11 x 9.5. In very good to fine condition, with a central vertical fold, scattered creasing, and light brushing to ink. A very early example, dating to just one year after the actor —who had worked as 'Duke Morrison' in bit parts for the Fox Film Corporation in the late 1920s—had settled on his final, enduring tough-guy nom de guerre: "John Wayne."
