Description

Hugo recommends a gallant widow: "She lost her husband, the events of February ruined her, she was able to find a new life thanks to her intelligence and courage"

ALS in French, one page, 5.25 x 8.25, December 29, 1849. Handwritten letter to a prefect, in full (translated): "Please find good, Mr. Prefect, that I draw your most benevolent attention to the honorable and distinguished person who will give you this letter. Madame widow Parent was the wife of one of our most able doctors in the Saint Antoine district. She lost her husband, the events of February ruined her, she was able to find a new life thanks to her intelligence and courage. She dedicated herself to the service of asylum rooms, and the government is sending her to Africa with a mission of dedication and charity. I recommend Madame Parent to your most serious kindness. I eagerly seize, Mr. Prefect, this opportunity to present myself once again to your obliging memory and I offer you the assurance of my most distinguished feelings." In fine condition.
