Description

Civil War general (1826–1911) most noted for a daring 1863 expedition through Confederate-held territory that severed enemy communication lines between Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Confederate commanders in the Eastern Theater. Uncommon 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite head-and-shoulders portrait of Grierson in uniform, neatly signed on the reverse in ink, "Yours truly, B. H. Grierson, Brig. Genl. Vols." Published by A. Hesler of Chicago. In fine condition.
