Hamilton, the Warden of the County Jail in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, in full: “I shall ever treasure the happy memories of my motorcade campaign conducted in Pennsylvania and Ohio last spring. Among the names of those whose words of welcome remain with me is your own, and I am sorry that I have not written before to thank you for your splendid service. You will understand that this is not through any lack of appreciation, but rather because of the ceaseless round of duties that from day to day demand my attention. However, I want you to have this assurance in writing that your kindness and understanding of the Salvation Army and warm words of welcome to me its American leader are remembered and valued. You may be interested to know that I am, in a few days now, starting out on another similar campaign through Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois. Pray that it may be as blessed of God to the hearts and lives of the people, and, if possible, as happy to myself as the historic first Salvation Army motorcade campaign of last June!” An original glossy 2.5 x 3.5 snapshot photo of Booth is affixed to the upper left corner. The letter is affixed to a slightly larger mounting sheet and in very good to fine condition, with edge toning, and old glue stains.
