German actor and film director (1902-1987) who landed secondary roles in a number of films and plays before landing his breakthrough role of Freder Fredersen in Fritz Lang's 1927 film Metropolis. He remained a popular film star in Germany until the 1950s. Glossy 10 x 8 photo of Gustav Frohlich relaxing pool-side with a book on stunning Swiss coastline property, signed and inscribed in German in the lower border in blue ink by Frohlich, who adds "Brissago / Switzerland, 3. Nov. 1982." Reverse bears ample caption text in German. In fine condition.
