Description

Early handwritten lyrics by Roy Wood for The Move song ‘Simple Simon,’ which Wood had written between 1965 and 1967 and that later appeared on the band’s 2009 box set Anthology 1966-1972. The lyrics, unsigned and penned in red ballpoint on a peach-colored 8 x 13 sheet, read, in part: “Now once a gay young country lad / Was first apprentice to his dad / After five long years in the bakery trade / He still couldn’t tell how the pies were made / Oh Simple Simon / Something’s wrong inside your head / You’ll never make a pie man / You’re too simple Simon.” Wood has struck through and emended a couple of sections with black felt tip. In very good to fine condition, with light creasing and handling wear. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks.
