Distinguished French director (1894-1979) whose 1939 classic Rules of the Game takes a place among the most acclaimed films ever made. The son of the painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir and the uncle of the cinematographer Claude Renoir, he was one of the first filmmakers to be known as an auteur. Scarce glossy 9.5 x 7 photo of Jean Renoir in a seated pose, signed and inscribed in French in blue felt tip, “A Emil Mosslinger, amicalement—Jean Renoir.” In very good to fine condition, with mild rubbing and a couple of small creases.
