Description

Partly-printed vellum DS, signed “George R,” one page, 13.5 x 9.25, November 30, 1824. King George IV appoints Herbert Laye "to be Ensign…in our Ninety first or the Argyllshire Regiment of Foot." Signed at the head in ink by King George IV and countersigned at the conclusion by Robert Peel, who would go on to serve twice as prime minister. In very good to fine condition, with scattered soiling and staining.
