German publicist and politician (1875-1921) who spoke out against World War I and signed the armistice between Germany and the Allied Powers as head of the German delegation; he was assassinated in 1921 by the right-wing terrorist group Organisation Consul. TLS in German, signed "M. Erzberger," one page, 8.25 x 6.75, no date. Letter regarding the death of Prince Heinrich of Bavaria, a highly decorated Army officer in the First World War who was killed in the Battle of the Olt Valley in 1916. In part (translated): "Your Excellency, I would like to enclose a letter from the deputy Dr. Pfeiffer about the deceased Prince Heinrich, which was written at my instigation, with the request that I would like to present it to His Majesty the Emperor." In fine condition.
