English statesman (bef. 1523-1589) who served as Chancellor of the Exchequer to Queen Elizabeth I, and founded Emmanuel College, Cambridge. Rare manuscript DS, signed “Wa: Mildmay,” one page, 8 x 9.75, May 5, 1589. Official document signed at the conclusion by Mildmay and one other. In very good to fine condition, with light scattered foxing, paper loss to upper left corner, and a crease to the lower right edge.
