English boxer (1928-1966) who was considered by some to be Europe's best middleweight boxer of the 1940s and 1950s. In 1951 he became world middleweight champion when he defeated Sugar Ray Robinson. Later, bankrupt, he committed suicide in 1966. Two vintage ballpoint signatures, "Best wishes from Randy Turpin" and "Randy Turpin," on separate album pages inside a hardcover 4.75 x 4 autograph book. Other signers include minor British actors and actresses, such as Paul Hardwick, Patrick Wymark, Gloria Dolskie, Clifford Rose, Derek Godfrey, and Julian Battersby. In fine condition, with a small spot of toning to one of the Turpin signatures.
