Description

Founder and editor of the New York Tribune (1811-1872) who used the power of his newspaper to advocate for a variety of liberal causes, most importantly the call for emancipation of slaves during the Civil War. First National Bank check, 7.5 x 2.75, filled out in another hand and made payable to Hon. Horace Greeley for $100, June 10, 1868. Endorsed boldly on the reverse by Greeley. In fine condition.
