Businessman, investor, and philanthropist (1831-1895) who served as the 35th governor of Massachusetts. Two items: a stock certificate for 100 shares in the Oregon and Transcontinental Company issued to Ames, June 22, 1886, endorsed on the reverse in ink, "Oliver Ames"; and an American Loan and Trust Company check, filled out and signed by Ames, "Oliver Ames," payable to the Worcester County Institution for Savings for $750, April 26, 1891. In fine condition.
