Confederate major general (1826-1895) who distinguished himself during the Siege of Petersburg; in his career as a civil engineer, Mahone was prominent in the building of Virginia's roads and railroads. Partly-printed DS, signed “Wm. Mahone,” one page, 11 x 7.25, February 2, 1875. Stock certificate for one share of the Atlantic, Mississippi & Ohio Rail Road Company issued to Joseph S. Campbell, signed in ink by Mahone as president and James E. Cuthbert as secretary. In fine condition.
