The chief judge who presided at the trial of Marie-Antoinette

Lawyer (1759-1795) and a chief judge during the Reign of Terror, whose most famous cases were against Marie Antoinette and Georges Danton; he was guillotined on the Place de Grève following the Thermidorian Reaction. Manuscript DS, in French, signed “Herman,” one page, 8 x 12.25, April 14, 1794. Document ordering that Thulpin, a justice of the peace, be arrested and taken to prison. In fine condition, with a rusty circular paperclip impression to the top and some seal-related staining.
