Fillmore's widow declines a luncheon "to meet the President and Mrs. Hayes"

Second wife (1813-1881) of Millard Fillmore, who married the former president five years after he left office. Third-person ALS, one page, 5 x 5.5, black-bordered letterhead, May 7, 1877. Handwritten letter declining a presidential visit, in full: "Mrs. Fillmore regrets extremely she cannot accept General and Mrs. Wilson's invitation for Lunch on Tuesday May Fifteenth to meet the President and Mrs. Hayes." In fine condition.
