Description

Influential English art critic and writer (1819-1900). ALS signed “J. Ruskin,” one page, 4.5 x 7, Brantwood letterhead, May 18, [no year]. Handwritten letter to Francis H. Butler, in part: "Poor Mr. Tallery's death was a heavy grief to me—and a loss of help most valuable to me. If there are any chalcedonies among the minerals he has left—or any beautiful quartzes I should willingly pay carriage and the trouble of careful packing, could they be sent down here." In very good to fine condition, with toning, a small stain, and splitting to the hinge and fold ends. Accompanied by the original invoice from Kenneth W. Rendell, Inc., dated 1975.
