Description

Napoleon's sister (1780-1825), who served as a model for Antonio Canova's 'Victorious Venus.' She was also Napoleon's most loyal sibling, visiting him in exile and liquidating her assets to assist him. ALS in French, signed “Pauline,” one page, 5.25 x 7, November 26, 1813. Interesting untranslated handwritten list of presents with their costs submitted to her cashier, ordering the payment of 3,989 francs. In fine condition, with a small paper remnant affixed to the lower left corner.
