Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Rhode Island (1727-1820). Letter written by Ashur Robbins, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 7.25 x 9.25, September 2, 1794, addressed on the reverse by Ellery, "William Ellery Esqr., Coll'r, Newport," and docketed in Ellery's hand, "Honble. Levi Lincoln Esqr. of Worcester in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts." The letter, concerning a complex legal matter, in part: "Herewith you have the papers in the Irish Cause, you have the Deed to William Ellery, the Deed to Phillips, the Mortgage Deed to the Eliots, the Deed to Irish, the agreement with Phillips, & the copy of the writ…and the will of Benja. Ellery. Pray be careful of these, & return them to me as soon as you return." In fine condition.
