Description

Actor (1880-1931) considered by many as possessing one of the ugliest mugs in Hollywood, but also deemed one of its best performers, best known for his bravura performance in the classic war epic All Quiet on the Western Front. Uncommon ALS, two pages, 6 x 9.5, Hotel Muehlebach letterhead, February 18, 1926. Handwritten letter to "Mr. Miller," in part: "Your letter of the 12th hits the bull's eye. It is exactly the thing to do for both of us, and for the play. So if you like we will regard that as settled. That is we play Pardon My Glove in stock in Rochester when I close with What Price Glory. I also like the idea of playing Glory in Rochester, and I believe I can get Boyd to play Quirt if that is O.K. for you." He adds a postscript, signed "L. W.," in full: "I should very much like a copy of the script to keep with me from now on. Thanks for offering to send one." In fine condition, with small holes to the upper left corner of each page. Accompanied by an unsigned original vintage glossy 6.75 x 9 press photo of Wolheim, stamp-dated 1930 on the reverse.
