Framed display containing autographs of the Apollo 14 moonwalkers: a black felt tip signature of Alan Shepard, "A. Shepard," and a large color glossy 18.75 x 14.75 photo of Edgar Mitchell standing next to the American flag on the lunar surface, signed in black felt tip, "Edgar Mitchell," with a fabric 5.75 x 4.25 American flag affixed over the flag in the photo. The items are triple-matted with two embroidered patches and a printed sheet with facsimile signatures of the Apollo 14 crew, which states that "This flag was carried to the moon on the Apollo 14 mission to Fra Mauro." In regard to the attached flag: although its dimensions and the presence of adhesive toning match with other flown examples, RR Auction is unable to verify the flag's status as a flown item. The items are framed to an overall size of 27.5 x 27.5. The Shepard signature is encapsulated in a Beckett authentication holder. In overall fine condition, with some small surface creases to the photo, which bears a JSA label to the lower left. The Mitchell autograph is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from JSA.
