Description

Supremely important naturalist (1743-1820), best remembered for his expedition to Newfoundland and Labrador, his participation in James Cook's first great voyage, and his role as President of the Royal Society for over four decades. DS, signed “Jos: Banks,” one page, 7.25 x 8.75, November 21, 1804. Official announcement from the Royal Society, in full: "These are to give Notice, that on the Thirtieth Day of November 1804, being St. Andrew's day, the Council and Officers of the Royal Society are to be Elected for the Year ensuing; at which Election, Your Presence is expected at Eleven of the Clock in the Forenoon at the Apartments of the Royal Society, in Somerset Place, Strand." In fine condition.
