Union Army general (1833-1880) who commanded both infantry and cavalry forces during the Civil War. Uncommon 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite photo of Torbert in uniform by Mathew Brady, signed on the reverse in ink, "Yours truly, A. T. A. Torbert, Brig. Genl: Vols." Reverse has the backstamp of Brady's National Photographic Portrait Galleries, New York & Washington. In fine condition, with surface loss to the left edge of the image side.
