Description

Partly-printed DS, one page, 15 x 9.5, April 11, 1800. As governor of New York, Jay appoints John Dunning as "Second major of the Regiment of Militia in the county of Saratoga whereof Samuel Clark Esquire is Lieutenant Colonel Commandant." Signed neatly in the left margin by Jay, and countersigned by Daniel Hale as secretary. The white paper seal remains affixed to upper left corner. In fine condition, with splitting to the bottom ends of the folds.
