World War II-dated TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, United States Senate letterhead, no date. Letter to George C. Marquis, in part: "You are to be complimented on that boy of yours. I think he has some of the same energy and get-up that his Daddy has. I believe if I were young Purdy I would accept the job as bank examiner with the F.D.I.C. The Alien property set-up as you know will be through after the war is over. Of course we don't know how long it will be, but I think the bank examiner appointment would be a longer job and a more permanent one. Of course these young people are anxious to do the best they can for themselves and it is rather hard to give intelligent advice to the them unless we know all the circumstances, but there isn't a better job than that of bank examiner." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope, addressed to Clarence E. Purdy.
