King, in part: "In the name of the Committee on Invitations, as above, I request the honor of your name on our General Committee. The purpose is the celebration of Lincoln's Birthday, the evening of February 11th next at Carnegie Hall…Hon. Henry Watterson of Louisville, Ky, will deliver the oration on Lincoln. 'The Peoples Choral Union' under the personal direction of Mr. Frank Damrosch will sing their choruses; Mr. David Mames, violinist, has volunteered his services; as also Fred Emerson Brooks to give his poem, one just suited to the occasion. By assenting you will aid this first public celebration of Lincoln's Birthday here and make it especially creditable to the city." In fine condition.
