Description

American novelist and screenwriter (1899-1982) who is best known for the crime novel Little Caesar, the film adaptation of which is considered the first of the classic American gangster movies. World War II-dated DS, one page, 8.5 x 11, September 8, 1942. Official letter from Warner Bros. Pictures to W. R. Burnett, requesting he suspend his services on a story entitled 'I Wasn't Born Yesterday,' in order that he may begin "the writing of a screen play tentatively entitled 'Background to Danger.'" Approved and signed at the conclusion in fountain pen by Burnett. In fine condition.
