Description

ALS signed “D. W.,” one page, 4.75 x 7.25, February 2, 1840. Letter to the publishers Gales and Seaton, in full: "Please send your Daily Paper to Fletcher Webster Esq., Boston, on my account—beginning with today's No." In very good to fine condition, with scattered light staining, and old adhesive residue along the edge of the integral address leaf. William Winston Seaton and Joseph Gales were the publishers of the Daily National Intelligencer, which was the first newspaper published in Washington, D.C. and for many years the district's most dominant publication.
