Signed on the first free end page in blue felt tip by Richard Nixon. In very good to fine condition, with creasing and tears to the dust jacket. Nixon self-published one thousand copies of this book in September 1983, sending them to a 'select group of government officials and opinion leaders'—this particular copy has a laid-in card, bearing a pre-printed facsimile "RN" signature, stating that it is "one of a limited number being sent to the United States' Medal of Honor winners and Vietnam POWs—Americans who have served their country, and the cause of real peace, far beyond the call of duty." The book was later picked up and published in a trade edition by Little, Brown and Company in 1984.
