Sultan and later king of Egypt and Sudan, sovereign of Nubia, Kordofan, and Darfur (1868-1936), who oversaw Egypt's transition from a British colony to an independent power. Rare and impressive matte-finish 6 x 9 photo of the sultan in his regal attire, affixed to its original 10 x 15 mount, signed on the image in fountain pen, "Fouad, 1922." The mount is blindstamped at the bottom, "Photographer to H. H. the Sultan." Framed and in fine condition, with a mottled appearance to the image.
