Signed book in French: The Greatest [Le Plus Grand]. Paris: Gallimard, 1976. Softcover, 6 x 9.5, 496 pages. Signed on the page adjacent to the title page in blue ballpoint by Muhammad Ali. The page is also signed by Jimmy Ellis, who adds the year, "1979." In fine condition. Ali and Ellis squared off in the Houston Astrodome on July 26, 1971. After three rounds of even boxing, Ali landed a shattering right hand in the fourth, a punch Ellis believes turned the fight—'[It] hurt me so bad I couldn't really fight my best after that…it ruined me.' The referee stopped the bout in the twelfth round in favor of Ali.
