British illustrator (1820-1914) best known for his collaborations with Lewis Carroll on the Alice in Wonderland books. ALS, one page, penned neatly on the reverse of a 4.75 x 3 postal card, April 11, 1894. Letter to Alex M. Wilson, in full: "I beg to state—in reply to your note—that the book was duly received, & that it will be returned to you at the earliest opportunity." In very good to fine condition, with light toning and soiling. Accompanied by a sketch of the Mad Hatter's tea party in another hand.
