Description

"I think also that no one is always easy to work with"

Two items: a matte-finish 8 x 10 paperstock photo of Grable as the title character in the 1967 production of Hello, Dolly!, signed and inscribed in black felt tip, "To Freddie, Best always, Betty Grable"; and a TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, August 1, 1967, addressed to Freddie Richards, in part: "I am so pleased that you and your wife enjoyed seeing 'Hello Dolly.' Since you say in your letter that you are planning to see the show again when your friends come into town I am sending back your dollar so that you can buy the souvenir program yourself. As for Mario Lanza, I think he had a very wonderful talent. I think also that no one is always easy to work with, but he was a very nice man.". In overall fine condition, with an old tape stain to the top edge of the letter. Grable famously played the part of Dolly in the Broadway production of Hello, Dolly! from June 12, 1967 to November 5, 1967.
