Longtime umpire and front office executive (1884-1956) inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Detroit Baseball Company letterhead, August 27, 1947. Letter to Harold L. Esch, replying about souvenirs for sale at the Tigers ballpark. In part: "I have your letter…relative to baseball souvenirs on sale at Briggs Stadium. We do have a variety of such souvenirs on sale and among them baseball caps. As you probably know, the price of the regular cap as worn by the Tigers costs the club $3.00 per cap. The cap that we have on sale at the park is more or less a replica of the Tiger cap, except in a much cheaper grade material. It is sold for $1.00." In very good to fine condition, with light staining.
