Description

Two TLSs, signed “Darryl” and “Darryl Zanuck,” both one page, 7.25 x 10.5 and 8.5 x 11, dated January 8 and June 5, 1941. The earlier letter, written on Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation letterhead, addressed to entertainer Rudy Vallee, in part: "I am in receipt of a letter from Stanley Bergerman stating that you have consented to our including you in the dedication sequence of our Twentieth Century-Fox picture The Great American Broadcast. Your gracious consent is heartily appreciated”; and the second, typed on Research Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences letterhead, addressed to fellow producer and director Hal Roach as the nation was heading toward World War II, in part: "All War Department Training Films being produced by the Research Council for the Army are restricted material and subject to very strict regulations. We have been instructed by the War Department to make certain that this material is properly handled, and we would consequently appreciate your issuing the necessary instructions to all those in your studio involved with the production of these Training Films as to the restricted nature of the material photographed on these Films." In overall very good to fine condition, with staining and a rust paperclip impression to the Roach letter.
