DS as president, one page, 15.5 x 11.75, April 10, 1967. President Johnson appoints Jack K. Valenti as "a Member of the Board of Foreign Scholarships." Signed boldly at the conclusion by Johnson and countersigned by the acting Secretary of State. Beige paper seal remains affixed to lower left. Rolled and in fine condition, with a rusty paperclip impression to the top edge. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity stating that the document was obtained from the estate of Jack and Mary Margaret Valenti, as well as the original State Department mailing tube.
Before he became the president of the Motion Picture Association of America, Valenti served as a liaison with the news media during President John F. Kennedy and Vice-President Lyndon B. Johnson's November 22, 1963 visit to Dallas, Texas. Valenti was in the presidential motorcade and, following the assassination of President Kennedy, was present in the famous photograph of Johnson's swearing-in aboard Air Force One.
