President Harrison declines an invite from the "Old Guard"—"The Vice President will take my place"

ALS as president, signed “Benj. Harrison,” one page, 8 x 5, telegram letterhead, October 11, 1892. A "Postal Telegraph" to Major George W. McLean, in full: "I thank the 'Old Guard' for its most courteous offer, but regret to say that I will not be able to go to New York. The Vice President will take my place." In very good to fine condition, with scattered light creasing, and a few small stains.
