Public affairs officer (1922-1979) for NASA from 1959 to 1963 during Project Mercury, known as the 'voice of the astronauts,' the 'voice of Mercury Control,' and the 'eighth astronaut.' Official vintage glossy 8 x 10 black-numbered NASA photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To the Ken Brownes, With Best Wishes, Shorty Powers.” Reverse bears a collector's notation indicating that it was received in 1963. In very good to fine condition, with some light edge creasing, and several paperclip impressions.
