Vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 bust-length photo of the handsome character actor, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "For Phoebe Cole—May I send my sincere best to a wonderful girl—Van Heflin." Reverse bears a Paramount Pictures stamp. In fine condition, with a crease above Heflin's head and a few small pin holes to the borders. An uncommon portrait of Heflin, who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the 1942 film noir Johnny Eager. Heflin also had memorable turns in The Strange Love of Martha Ivers, which featured Kirk Douglas in his feature film debut, and in classic Westerns like Shane, 3:10 to Yuma, and Gunman's Walk.
