TLS as president, one page, 7 x 8.75, White House letterhead, October 31, 1931. Letter to Emily B. Callahan, in part: "The death of your husband, Edgar B. Callahan, brought sadness to all of us who were associated with him in the work of the American Relief Association, to which he gave such a devoted and valuable service. I want you to know of my deep sympathy with you in your loss and I hope the recollection of his very useful life will bring you a measure of consolation." In fine condition, with a few small stains. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
